Why Charlotte Mason?
Charlotte Mason was an education reformer in England during the turn of the century. Over the course of her life she taught innumerable children, developed a school for the training of governesses and co-founded the Parent's National Education Union (PNEU). Her principles and methods influenced hundreds of schools and even more households in her time.
While the broad expansion of industrialization led to dwindling of homeschooling and the boon of factory-modeled public education, Mason's methods fell out of fashion. However, as homeschooling found it's resurgence in the 1980's, a new generation has rediscovered her ideas and the results are awe-inspiring! FEASTT is committed to operating on the 20 educational principles developed by Charlotte Mason - the two most fundamental being that children are born persons and all education is self-education. Through the warmth of atmosphere, the discipline of habit and integration of learning into all of life, we enjoy a generous feast of knowledge each week. The principles are integral to all our processes and you can learn more about them by following the links below. |
